Twitter: What are you doing?!

Twitter may just be one of the best little applications on the web. It is in the most elementary form a social networking site that allows you to talk about yourself. A micro you out there for the web to see. A slice of your day or a window into your business. Twitter allows you to send out “tweets” ( what they call the stuff you type) in 140 character format.  Your updates are displayed on your profile page and those on twitter that choose to follow you will view your tweets. You may opt for private tweeting and only give updates to those you choose. You can follow who interests you too!

Twitter may be used on line or you may activate the site to send tweets to your phone via text.

Twitter is used for a variety of reasons. One obvious use is for entertainment and social networking. It is fun to use the site. You can bookmark favorite random tweets you read for a chuckle later or you can find a new local pal. If you blog it is a great avenue to announce your site and gain readers. Small business owners with on line retail such as Etsy.com will use twitter to announce new products or promos. People even find jobs via tweets. Major companies are on twitter and are reading what you may say about them or others. The political scene is on fire with the application. Dude- even 10 Downing Street, the website of the British Prime Minister, has started using Twitter.

Twitter can be used how you like it. Get ready to like it!
