Why start a blog?

Everybody’s doing it. You want to do it. You think about doing it. Now is the time to start a blog.  Really.

You must fall in line!  Blogs are the new black! You better have one! Don’t be left behind!

Blogging is no longer just for for personal journaling and introspection. Blogging is of the now. A blog is a web log. It is a site that is maintained with regular content (I say regular as in regular. not once every few months. if it isn’t regular, it isn’t a blog).  that may or may not focus on a particular subject.

If you have a website for your business you most likely have all of your pertinent information on the site. (contact/bio/etc) But how current and fresh is the info on your site?  A blog can help assure people know you are living and not just hiding behind a web site 3 years old.

A blog can be a new venue of sharing and connection between you and your customer/client. A little blah blah: It can help with branding who you are- as a blog can be more seductive to read than a static web page of facts about you.A blog is more human. A blog seems more “real” than a page of phone numbers.

How can you start one? You can start one right now. Sites like blogger and wordpress offer free super simple blogging templates and platforms that can have you up and blogging instantly. Think of blog posts as tiny word documents almost. You can start simply with text based blog posts and then build up to learning how to insert photos and links to other coolness all over the web. Baby Steps!
